History of PARK ESTATES

  • The edges of Park Estates borders Pacific Coast Highway along the south, Atherton Street on the north, Bellflower Boulevard on the east, and Clark Avenue on the west, much like a hidden community.

  • In 1948 Lloyd S. Whaley hired L. Deming Tilton to create and develop a master-planned housing development and began developing Park Estates. Prices ranged from $20,000 to $30,000, which was 2 to 3 times higher price tag to pay for a home, compared to a standard home which sold for under $10,000.
